Dearborn County: Home to Perfect North Slopes

Dearborn County is home to Perfect North Slopes, a family-friendly ski and snowboard site. This area in Southeast Indiana also features the Hollywood Casino and other outdoor activities, such as hiking and biking, rock climbing and go-kart racing. If you’d rather take a more relaxing break after hitting the slopes, visit one of Dearborn County’s various parks or theaters.

Slope to Slope

Perfect North Slopes features a skiing and snowboarding hill with courses for all skill levels. Skiers and snowboarders can go easy on beginner trails, take on intermediate trails or challenge themselves on the double black diamond trail. There are 23 courses: four “easiest” trails, seven “more difficult” trails (including one shortcut and two terrain parks featuring ramps and rails), three “advanced intermediate” trails, four “most difficult” trails and two “experts only” trails. Skiers and snowboarders access these trails via five chair lifts and six rope tows.

Snow tubing at Perfect North

Perfect North also features 25 tubing lanes where snow tubers slide down a hill 750 feet long and then ride the Magic Carpet conveyor lift back up the hill. No experience or special equipment is needed for snow tubing.

The resort covers 100 acres, the peak elevation is 800 feet, the average snowfall is 18 inches, and the longest run is one mile.

Perfect North offers a variety of training and practice opportunities for racers at any level. There is also a Ski School that offers lessons to anyone from beginners to experts.

The lodge includes food service, ski and snowboard rentals, a loft shop, repair shop and seating facing the slopes.

Accommodations

Dearborn County offers a variety of hotel packages that include Perfect North Slopes, the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Ky., and restaurant vouchers. Lodging opportunities include hotels, including the Hollywood Casino, motels, and bed and breakfasts.

Holiday Inn Express offers Perfect North ski packages that include continental breakfasts and Jacuzzi suites.

Mama Sue’s Bed & Breakfast is on a 160-acre dairy farm where breakfast is served with a casserole or quiche, fresh fruit, meat, home-made muffins, coffee, tea and juice.

Getting Here

Dearborn County, Indiana is located along the Ohio River where Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky meet.

Located on Interstates 275 and 74, Dearborn County is 22 miles from downtown Cincinnati and 15 miles from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport via Interstate 275 and US 50.

Indianapolis and Louisville are 90 miles away.

Activities and Entertainment

Bring your group to Perfect North Slopes to support breast cancer research. Perfect North teams up with Tour for the Cure® to raise money for the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer, which funds breast cancer cure research in Indiana. Visit any day during the season and create your own Perfectly Pink day of fundraising for Tour for the Cure®.

Located along the Ohio River, Southeast Indiana has marinas and yacht clubs minutes away from small towns, attractions, shopping and great restaurants. Canoe and kayak rentals are available for three- or eight-mile trips.

Competition Go-Kart Racing allows visitors to experience high-speed European go-kart racing on an indoor 950-foot track. This facility also offers a variety of special corporate and group events.

Lawrenceburg Speedway, located at the Dearborn County Fairgrounds and open May through October, features a high-banked oval track that hosts motorcycle, sprint car, modified and pure stock racing.

Grand Oak Golf Club in West Harrison has been rated one of the “Top 10 Tri-State Public Courses” by the Cincinnati Enquirer and is recognized by Golf Digest as one of its top “Places to Play.” In Lawrenceburg, Sugar Ridge Golf Club was also rated as one of Golf Digest’s best “Places to Play” and has been recognized by Audubon International for its environmental planning.

Cliffs of Muscatatuck Park is a rock climbing area with about a half-mile of cliff where visitors mainly climb bouldering-style, which is low to the ground without any gear.

Dearborn Trail is a four-and-a-half-mile paved path for hikers and bikers that follows the Ohio River for most of its length. Along the trail are historic areas, shops, riverboat gaming, shops and markets.

Dearborn Highlands Arts Council, or DHAC, hosts events such as concerts, dance performances and art classes.

Greendale Cinema, a 10-screen theater with reclining seats and stadium seating, shows first-run films and features an arcade lobby.

Windows of Aurora is a phone app for a walking tour of over 60 window murals painted by regional artists. Large groups can have their tour guided by one of the original artists.

Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg features over 3,200 slots, 90 fast and friendly table games plus a 41-table World Poker Tour poker room. Within the Casino, Ultimate 70s and 80s dance club hosts Boogie Nights, and Hollywood on the Roof presents live music Monday through Thursday.

Final Cut Restaurant serves seafood, steak and wine from around the world and is located inside the Hollywood Casino just a few steps away from gaming.

Hops House 99, also located with the Hollywood Casino pavilion, offers pub fare plus 99 different beers, including over 30 regional and local brews.

At Sakura Japanese Steak House, you are served sushi while a personal chef prepares your meal before your eyes.

Whisky’s restaurant, located in a historic building in the heart of downtown Lawrenceburg, is known for its barbecue ribs and famous peanut slaw.

Great Crescent Brewery is family-owned and located in an 1843 building in downtown Aurora. Groups may schedule beer-tasting and beer bread demos.

Hillforest Victorian House Museum is a Victorian-era National Historic Landmark overlooking the Ohio River in Aurora. Groups of eight or more can arrange for tea and cookies in the double parlors or on the veranda.
